Outdoors
Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire is an area with lots of scope for walking, fishing, horse riding, cycling and other outdoor activities…
The Greensands Ridge walk takes a high route along the ridge of Greensands which crosses the centre of Bedfordshire and continues both to the East and West.
You can follow this route from Woburn past Ampthill, Old Warden to Sandy.
The Ridgeway Path, the Stone Age path which is probably the oldest footpath in Britain, ends on the Downs south-west of Dunstable. It can be followed past Berkhamstead and Tring all the way to Avebury and Stonehenge in Wiltshire.
South Bedfordshire is bordered by the Chilterns, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty containing the country's most extensive areas of beech woodland. This woodland gives way to the downland of Ivinghoe Beacon and Dunstable Downs, the highest point in the East of England (great for kite-flying).
The Kingfisher Way follows the River Ivel past Letchworth, Biggleswade and Sandy. Along the way are many picturesque villages and ten ancient watermills.
With its gently rolling landscape this is a good area for cycling, and numerous cycling trails will be found especially in mid-Bedfordshire around Woburn, Ampthill and Old Warden.
Some of our member's properties offer a range of pursuits - swimming, fishing, croquet and others.
Fishing is a popular sport in this region and there are numerous places where you can fish, both Coarse Fishing and Trout Fishing.
Golf courses are abundent too in our area, why not try Aspley Guise or Woburn.
